About Anna V
Anna Vereker graduated from Brighton Art College in 1992 with a degree in Fashion and Textiles. She worked in London as a textile designer for a year before moving to Cornwall (following her future husband) where she then worked as a freelance designer designing a variety of products from textiles, greeting cards, wrapping paper and furniture.
The furniture was to take off and Anna launched her first business Sunshine Designs in 1994 selling to the gift market. The company expanded into new lines including rugs which were to be an over-night success.
Following a move back to Sussex and the birth of her two daughters, Anna decided to concentrate her design effects on the rugs alone and founded Anna V Rugs in 1998.
I am happiest when designing and what attracts me to designing rugs are the limitless possibilities in terms of scale, texture and colour. A rug can be a bold statement, a focal point, a hint of colour, or blend effortlessly into its surroundings.
I also have a passion for exploring houses. Not only is it a great insight into people's personalities, but it's also very inspiring.
Understanding peoples tastes for interior design is a continual source of surprise and one of my favourite phrases is "one man's rubbish is another man's treasure." Never a truer word was spoken about design and I love to work with people who follow their heart and not necessarily the passing trends.
